Publish, update and recover certificate designs
Understand saved drafts, published versions, in-use designs and conflicts between multiple editors.
Studio separates editable drafts from published versions. A set uses a selected published design; an issued certificate retains its recorded version. This separation protects historical certificates while allowing you to improve future designs.
Update a design safely
- Open the correct organization's template and inspect its existing draft.
- Make your edits and wait for the saved state. Review the output with real data.
- Publish the draft after resolving preflight errors.
- Return to the set and choose the intended version for the main design and any type-specific overrides.
- Review mappings and signature-approval status, then generate fresh issue previews.
- Use a correction if previously issued certificates must change; new publication alone does not update them.
Handle a draft conflict
A conflict means the server's draft changed after your editor loaded it, often because another tab or teammate saved. Preserve a record of your unsaved changes, coordinate which version should be authoritative, reload the current draft and reapply the intended edits. Do not repeatedly press Save expecting the conflict to disappear safely.
Restore or duplicate when appropriate
Use the available version or library-original restore controls only after checking what they restore. Restoring a draft is not the same as rolling back issued certificates. A duplicate can be useful for a new layout variation, but must still be published, selected and reviewed for its destination set.
Why deletion can be blocked
A design currently used by a certificate set cannot simply be removed. Choose another design for the set first and review any remaining references. Historical versions used by issued records are part of their reproducibility; deleting a draft is not a way to erase the signed history.
When changing a design used by managed signatories, inspect approval requirements again. Approval of one design is not unrestricted permission to put the same person's signature on any future layout or award.
